MONEY ORDERS ARE COMMON<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>BANKS WILL CASH THEM AND THEN HOLD YOU RESPONSIBLE<\/strong>&nbsp;when the fake is discovered weeks later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">TAMAircraft.com\u00a0<strong>IS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY TRANSACTION<\/strong>, and does not handle payments, guarantee transactions, provide escrow services, or offer \u201cbuyer protection\u201d or \u201cseller certification\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>NEVER GIVE OUT FINANCIAL INFORMATION<\/strong>&nbsp;(bank account number, social security number, eBay\/PayPal info, etc.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>AVOID DEALS INVOLVING SHIPPING OR ESCROW SERVICES<\/strong>&nbsp;and know that&nbsp;<strong>ONLY A SCAMMER WILL \u201cGUARANTEE\u201d YOUR TRANSACTION<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Who should I notify about fraud or scam attempts?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">U.S. Federal<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ic3.gov\/\">Internet Fraud Complaint Center<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/ftc.gov\/multimedia\/video\/scam-watch\/file-a-complaint.shtm\">FTC Video: How to report scams to the FTC<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov\/\">FTC online complaint form<\/a><\/li><li>FTC toll free hotline: 877-FTC-HELP (877-382-4357)<\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ftc.gov\/sentinel\/military\/index.shtml\">Consumer Sentinel\/Military (for reports from services members or their families)<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.siia.net\/piracy\/report\/report.asp\">SIIA Software and Content Piracy reporting<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are defrauded by someone you met in person, contact your&nbsp;<strong>local police<\/strong>&nbsp;department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Recognizing scams<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most scams involve one or more of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>An inquiry from someone far away, often in another country.<\/li><li>Western Union, Money Gram, cashier\u2019s check, money order, shipping, escrow service, or a \u201cguarantee\u201d.<\/li><li>Inability or refusal to meet face-to-face before consumating transaction<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Examples of Scams<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Someone claims that\u00a0<strong>TAMAircraft.com\u00a0<\/strong>will guarantee a transaction, certify a buyer\/seller, OR claims that\u00a0<strong>TAMAircraft.com<\/strong>\u00a0will handle or provide protection for a payment.<ul><li>These claims are fraudulent, as<strong>\u00a0TAMAircraft.com\u00a0<\/strong>does not have any role in any transaction.<\/li><li>Scammer will often send an official looking email that appears to come from\u00a0<strong>TAMAircraft.com<\/strong>, offering a guarantee, certifying a seller, providing payment services \u2014 all such emails are fakes!<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Someone requests wire service payment via Western Union or MoneyGram:<ul><li>The seller often claim that an MTCN or confirmation code is needed before he can withdraw your money \u2013 this is FALSE, once you\u2019ve wired money, it is GONE.<\/li><li>Common countries currently include: Nigeria, Romania, United Kingdom, Ukraine, Spain, Italy, Netherlands \u2013 but could originate from anywhere.<\/li><li>The deal often seems too good to be true, price is too low, etc.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Distant person offers to send you a money order and then have you wire money:<ul><li>This is ALWAYS a scam, in our experience \u2013 the cashier\u2019s check is FAKE.<\/li><li>Sometimes accompanies an offer of merchandise, sometimes not.<\/li><li>Scammer often asks for your name, address, etc for printing on the fake check.<\/li><li>Deal often seems too good to be true.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Distant seller suggests use of an online escrow service.<ul><li>Most online escrow sites are FRAUDULENT, operated by scammers.<\/li><li>For more info, do a google search on \u201cfake escrow\u201d or \u201cescrow fraud\u201d.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Distant seller asks for a partial payment upfront, after which he will ship goods<ul><li>The seller says he trusts you with the partial payment.<\/li><li>The seller may say he has already shipped the goods.<\/li><li>The deal often sounds too good to be true.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You can sidestep would-be scammers by following these common-sense rules.
